MEDICARE & SOCIAL SECURITY
     My goal is to inform you about what’s going on in state government and hopefully improve how the state government works for you. While Medicare and Social Security are fed- eral programs, they’re a lifeline for many seniors and this month’s Senior Times’ focus.
Open enrollment for Medicare starts October 15. I recommend tak- ing a look at your plans. Switching Part D policies can save seniors up
to $1,000 a year in some cases with lower premiums and lower copays. Drug plans change the drugs they cover and the level at which they cover them every year. There is little chance that keeping the same Part D plan year after year is a good idea.
