 FAITH IN ACTION
beautiful than bright sunshine on snow on a crisp winter afternoon.
There are times these winter days when I just can’t seem to get my feet warm. But it was a lot different this week as I began to reflect back on those “good old days” when I was a student at Verona Elementary School and the thought of snow and ice only brought delight to my eyes! You see, my Uncle Ernest gave me some old skis from his attic and I was determined to use them with my friend Bob. So I bundled up on a cold-blowing winter day after school and walked up East Ave. North, and
cut the corner to Roosevelt. I took one look at “dead-man’s” narrow run with lots of trees on either side, remembered why we had named it “dead-man’s” and immediately re-thought this scenario.
What does this have to do with any- thing? Only to remember that good and value can be found in every day of life that God gives us, even the dark days of winter. The opportunities present them- selves for us to behave as a child of the Creator... to love, to show compassion, to reach out, to risk showing you care in these risky days.

I knocked on Bob’s door and con- vinced him to get out his sleds and
skis and together we soon discovered the surprise and joy of skiing where it wasn’t so dangerous behind his home, yet the excitement of moving fast over the snow and the smell of winter crisp- ness remains embedded in my memory to this day. Gee, I guess there was a time that I could enjoy winter! And you know what, if I’m really honest with myself, there probably is nothing more
