Miles for Memories. Both your mileage and your number of scavenger hunt finds will be important for you in the long run.

Get Moving – Stay Moving: We’ve been talking about this since Miles for Memories began. The goal is to get the cardiovascular system delivering oxygen to the brain. While all movement has benefit, especially for other health-related issues, weight-bearing seems to be the most beneficial for reducing the rate of cognitive decline.
Get started by going to the website at miles- formemories.org. Make your $26 donation. (It will redirect you to Battle Creek Community Foundation.) Next you will want to download the registration/pledge form to your desktop. You can also register through the event on Facebook.
Awards will be given for the greatest number of miles completed, most scavenger hunt finds, and most money raised. Proceeds will benefit Miles for Memories.
It is continually reaffirmed that maintaining overall good health through diet and exercise can help to reduce risk for dementia by nearly 35%. Movement and other health measures can help prevent obesity, reduce risk for diabetes, and keep the cardiovascular system and the brain healthy. Support for this was discussed again at the AAIC 2020. Their findings show that it’s never too early – or too late – to take action to protect your brain.
It’s even better when you walk with others. We encourage you to invite family, friends, or co-workers to join you in your quest toward reducing your risk for dementia. If friends can- not join you outside ask them to support your efforts to complete your marathon through pledges toward your completion. Download your registration and pledge form at https://www. milesformemories.org/pdfs/mfmmarathonreg- istration.pdf. Save the pdf to your desktop and make adjustments to the editable form as you add friends or pledges. Save after each entry. When you’ve fully completed your form on your desk- top, save again, and press the submit button at the bottom and it will email to Miles for Memories.
Completion paperwork is due by October 30 including mileage, scavenger hunt finds, and dol- lars raised. You can print and email your comple- tion paperwork to memories@milesformemories. org.
