By: Kitty Knoll, Senior Center Coordinator, Heritage Commons Senior Enrichment Center

the leading cause of fatal injury and the most common cause of nonfatal, trauma-related hospital admissions in older adults? A
fall, regardless of if the person is injured, can impact quality of life and lead to a fear of falling again. Some people believe that falling is an inevitable part of aging. But, contrary to this belief, falls do NOT have to be an unfortunate and unavoidable part of the
aging process. We would love
to have you come join Oaklawn instructors Sarah Hughes, Virgie
Kinship Korner
Balance Buddies is a course that meets for two hours each week for four weeks at Heritage Commons. This is an interactive course that will help attendees develop practical strategies to prevent falls and improve balance and health. We will discuss the leading medical conditions that increase the risk of falling and discuss ways to improve overall health, look at ways to make homes or living areas safer, and
This is a fun and collaborative way to do something to reduce your risk of falling! You do not have to be a member of Heritage Commons to join this balance class. The program is offered Tuesdays, beginning March
