Put A Little Holly Mart in Your Life
Holly Mart, the Art Center of Battle Creek’s annual Holiday sale, will open
on November 4 and continue through December 22. Two galleries at the Art Center will be full of all kinds of art, all created by Michigan artists at a variety
of price ranges. You can find art work that includes paintings, photography, and drawings as well as pottery and sculp- ture, fused, blown and stained glass and more. Jewelry and work in wood as well as original gift cards are also available. The Art Center offers partner organiza- tions, such as Kingman Museum and the Historical Society of Battle Creek a space to sell items from their organizations.
This year a “fund raiser” is taking place called “Put a Little Art in Your Life.” Local artists have been challenged to create small art works in a variety of media. Visitors can purchase these artworks as gifts or for themselves and the proceeds go to support the Art Center’s many program areas. Perhaps you, or a relative, are “downsizing?” What a perfect way to keep including art in your (or their) life but just on a smaller scale.
The Art Center offers classes year- around in painting, ceramics, and glass. Another gift idea is to purchase a class or a membership for that special person. An annual membership lasts for a year and entitles the recipient a discount in the gift/ gallery shop and classes at a reduced price.
The Art Center, located at 265 Emmett Street E., is open Tuesday to Thursday and Saturday from 11am to 3pm.
