 NON-PROFIT NEWS
 Family
Enrichment Center
May is national Foster Care Appre- ciation Month. The Family Enrichment Center is excited to honor foster parents this month. As of March 2021, there are 11,418 children in Michigan in foster care. In Calhoun County, 280 children are in foster care with only 89 licensed homes. We desperately need more foster care homes.
The staff at the Family Enrichment Center would love to connect with you if you are interested in any of the following:
• Volunteering (though limited due to
COVID-19 restrictions)
• Donating (see their website to view
their wish list)
• Becoming a financial partner
• Becoming a licensed foster parent (call
1-855-MICHKIDS to speak to a Foster Care Navigator who can help you get started!)
Call 855-MICHKIDS or visit www. michigan.gov/hopeforahome to learn more! Visit the FEC on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/fecfamily. Or visit our website at: www.fecfamily.com.
S.A.F.E. Place
S.A.F.E. Place exists to provide safety to, empower, and advocate for victims
of domestic violence and sex traffick-
ing and their families. The organization provides programs designed to increase safety and well-being of survivors and their children. These programs include our 24/7 crisis line, 54-bed emergency shelter, adult and children’s counseling, survivor advocacy, and legal advocacy. All services are free of charge and available to anyone regardless of sex, gender identity, religion, race, disability status, immigration status, or any other identity. Each year S.A.F.E. Place serves over 2,200 unique individuals, making it one of the largest domestic violence agencies in the state of Michigan. Across the country, domestic violence rates have increased during the COVID-19 pandemic, and S.A.F.E. Place’s demand for services has grown exponentially over the last year. S.A.F.E. Place relies on local support through monetary and supply donations to continue supporting victims of domes- tic violence and sex trafficking.
