The year 2020 has no doubt been
a challenging year for everybody! I believe adversity is best faced head on and with the right perspective! When we can’t control a situation it is important
to remember we can control our reac- tion to the situation! At the Laurels of Bedford, we continue to strive to exceed expectations, even during difficult times. Recently, the Laurels of Bedford was awarded a 5-star rating from Medicare. gov, the official U.S. government site
for Medicare. Nursing home star ratings come from several categories: health inspections, staffing and quality of res- ident care measures, along with overall rating. Each nursing home can receive a rating between one and five stars. This information is important to know when you are investigating short term rehabil- itation or long term care for yourself or
a loved one. Each nursing home varies
in their quality and services and it is best to ask questions and receive input from friends and family in your community. Under normal circumstances it is highly recommended to visit each facility you are considering, however; because of CDC guidelines visiting is now restricted to keep everybody healthy and safe by keeping COVID 19 under control.
The same as other businesses in Calhoun County, the Laurels of Bed- ford has faced a few obstacles due to COVID 19. One obstacle was our 2.5 million-dollar construction project temporarily being put on hold. However; construction is now back underway with a new projection date of completion set for Fall of 2020. Over 13,000 square feet will be added to the existing building in total, with a state of the art therapy gym featured at the front entrance and a new wing added to the rear of the facility that will include 17 private guest suites. The
2,500 square foot therapy gym addition at the front of the facility will improve ease of access for visitors from outside the facility seeking quality outpatient, physical, occupational, and speech ther- apy while remaining centrally located for guests participating in short and long term rehabilitation programs. Addition- ally, the 11,000 square foot private guest suites will feature large rooms with private bathrooms and showers, along with a new nursing station, staff lounge, and administrative offices.
Although times are different
and the future is unknown you can confidently trust that the Laurels of Bedford has implemented all safety precautions recommended by the CDC (Center for Disease Control) and our local health department, to keep our patients and staff safe and healthy.
