a husband who helped with nursing and household chores, many people may not have this luxury. What would you do if there was no one nearby to help during the recovery phase?

First, I would start by stocking the freezer ahead of time with favorite foods and soups in single serving, micro-wave safe containers for a quick meal. Though we don’t live in a huge city, many of the restaurants do have some form of food delivery. Panera has its own, as well as
a number of pizza places, and others are available through a service such as Door- Dash like Bob Evans, which would be able to provide the comfort food you will crave.
In some cases, a person might go to a rehab center or nursing home for several weeks and in that case, you are all set with all your meals. When you are finished there or you go home immediately after surgery, then you might want to consider Meals on Wheels through the County Senior Services. The cost is income-based and can be a nominal fee or free depend- ing on your situation. This would provide not only a nutritious meal, but also a chance for someone to check in on you daily.
