Back-To-School
Calhoun Christian School – Education With Purpose
In our society parents are asked to consider many important factors when choosing how to educate their children. There are many possibilities, including public edu-
cation, charter schools, private schools, and home schooling. Once you’ve nar- rowed it down to public, charter, home, or private, you are faced with the choice of which school within those categories. Each student and family is different and the schools often each have a culture all their own. Transportation, location, cost, extra-curricular opportunities, academ- ics, technology, religion, and the mission of the school are all factors to consider.
With all of these things to consider, we often forget the most vital question, “What is the purpose of education?” Our answer to this question can change the
way we look at education in general. At Calhoun Christian School we believe the purpose of education is to prepare students academically, but also to teach God’s truth and how to live a life of ser- vice. Our aim is to help children under- stand their gifts and abilities and how to use those to serve Him throughout their lives. With that purpose in mind I would like to mention eight reasons why you should consider Calhoun Christian School.
First and foremost, at Calhoun Chris- tian School we teach our students the truth of God’s word. Math, Social Stud- ies, Biology, all academic roads lead to God, as the originator of all knowledge.
Second, Calhoun Christian School seeks to partner with parents and church- es to send the same message, teaching our students about our shared values and beliefs.
Third, Calhoun Christian School makes safety a top priority for our
students. We are not devoid of all prob- lems, but seek to provide a safe physical, emotional, and spiritual environment in which children can grow and learn.
Fourth, Calhoun Christian School provides an academically excellent ed- ucation. Based on the annual standard- ized tests, our students consistently score above national averages across grade levels and subject areas, preparing them to attend colleges and universities such as University of Michigan, Michigan State, Taylor University, Anderson Uni- versity, Calvin College, and many more.
Fifth, the teachers at Calhoun Chris- tian are dedicated to loving and teaching each child to grow in their gifts and abil- ities and see each student as a Child of God. When all – the school board, the principal, the teachers, and the parents – operate under the same educational par- adigm, education is at its best.
Sixth, the average class size at Cal- houn Christian School is thirteen stu- dents. The students are able to receive more individual and small group atten- tion throughout each school day result- ing in stronger academics and deep rela- tionships.
Seventh, the students of Calhoun Christian School come from families with a desire for their children to grow and know the Lord. While there is no perfect school or a school without issues, Calhoun Christian students are taught at school, home and church how to live a life that is glorifying to Christ.
Finally, Calhoun Christian School emphasizes service throughout all of our programs. Beginning in preschool through middle school our students participate in community service each quarter. In high school, students are in- volved in community service as well as culminating each school year with a mis- sion trip. The freshmen serve locally, the sophomores serve regionally, the juniors serve nationally, and the seniors serve in- ternationally.
The eight reasons listed above are only some of the reasons Calhoun Chris- tian School is a great option for your children. Feel free to call or email our office to set up a tour, discuss our pro- grams, ask questions about financial aid, and begin the enrollment process.
