They may also provide other services, like physical therapy, occupational therapy, bathing, and more. Medicare only covers shortterm home health care if you meet certain limited conditions. For more information on Medicare%u2019s coverage of home health care, visit Medicare.gov. Naturally, most aging adults would like to continue living at home, if at all possible. One must consider, however, if these services will provide all the necessary care that is required to insure safety and well-being. If a significant amount of care is required, this choice could become cost prohibitive and perhaps unsafe. Even with a daily visitor the aging adult may soon feel isolated with limited social interaction. Feeling isolated can greatly affect ones health. The listing on page 17 is a place to start to ask more questions. MI Choice Waiver programs %u2013Through the %u201cWaiver%u201d program, eligible adults who meet income and asset criteria can receive Medicaid-covered services like those provided by nursing homes, but can stay in their own home or another residential setting. Nurse and social worker teams work with participants to develop a person-centered, individualized plan that includes a mix of services appropriate to their needs and preferences. Each participant can receive the basic services Michigan Medicaid covers, and one or more of the following services unique to the Waiver:Adult day health, chore services, community living supports, community transition services, counseling, environmental accessibility adaptions, fiscal intermediary, goods and services, home delivered meals, non-emergency transportation, nursing services, personal emergency response systems (PERS), private duty nursing, respite services, specialized medical equipment and supplies, supports coordination, and training in a variety of independent living skills, and more. PACE programs offer adult day services as part of the enrollment in their program.
