restaurant. It doesn’t have to be a fancy place, just somewhere they real- ly enjoy. Take time to reminisce or to talk about new family activities.
Visit a nearby park to enjoy a picnic or a leisurely stroll. Or visit a botan- ical garden to see some beautiful flowers. If you prefer the shoreline, there are lots of beaches in Michigan that you can walk along or enjoy from a viewing area. You could also bring
a picnic lunch for both you and the birds.
Take a sports fan to see a live game – whether it’s a local or national team, it’s sure to be a good time.
Go window shopping. Stroll through
a shopping mall. Outdoor malls are fantastic in good weather. Indoor malls are temperature controlled and have ample seating for taking breaks, plenty of snacks and drinks, and lots of bathrooms.
Art lovers may enjoy visiting a nearby museum. A good conversation starter is to ask them open-ended questions about the pieces they like best.
Maybe entertainment is more to their liking. Anything from the performing arts to the casino is another option, or even a movie together.
For someone who is really excited about a hobby (like painting, golfing, yoga, gardening, music), enjoy that activity with them or join in a class they take.
Be sure to take photos of your visit. Later you can print them out and make a memory book together.
• Throw a casual potluck party where everyone brings a dish and spends the afternoon relaxing, chatting, and eat- ing together.
