Empowering youth with quality arts experiences, Tibbits offers programs both for and by area youth to develop their interest in the arts.
Popcorn Theatre
Popcorn Theatre offers many children their first experience with live theatre. Since 1988, live professional theatre experiences have brought classic children’s stories to the stage using the Tibbits Summer Theatre professional repertory company. The program has become a tradition for generations of families. Popcorn Theatre presents five different shows Friday and Saturday mornings through the summer.

Toad,” “Romeo & Juliet,” and “Coding to the Moon.” Tibbits’ goal is to have every student experience live theatre!
Students in grades 3-12 can take an artistic adventure, exploring the world of theatre and honing their own skills through theatre games, role playing, and performance activities. Led by Chad Tallon, an experienced actor, drama teacher, and summer company member, the two-week journey will build confi- dence, improve public speaking skills, and teach teamwork. Taking the stage themselves, local students present “The Secret Garden” March 27-29, The cast brings this charming, upbeat adaptation of a lit- erary classic to life with complete cos- tumes, sets, and the special ambiance of the historic theatre.
Built in 1882, Tibbits Opera House is among the oldest theatres in Michi- gan. Rich in history and ambiance, the theatre offers nearly perfect acoustics, an intimate 500-seat setting, year-round entertainment, and a great place to see live music, and theatre performances. An art gallery in the lower level, histor- ic exhibit and paintings in the theatre also offer an opportunity to explore the visual arts.
